Room Change Request

 

Hall-to-Hall & Room-to-Room Transfer Request

The Office of Residence Life & University Housing is committed to providing a supportive and educational environment for all of its residents. During your experience in university housing, you may prefer to live in a specific room type or residence hall on-campus. There may be times when your living situation becomes challenging due to issues with a roommate or the housing community at large, and you may want to change your room assignment.

To avoid continual room changes that can be disruptive to the formation of a strong and healthy living community, room change requests will only be reviewed within specific time periods. Room change requests are not accepted during the first few weeks of each semester, allowing for time to verify occupancy and identify vacancies in each community.

Room Change Requests are now being accepted. Once submitted, your request will be reviewed by a staff member. Please keep in mind that filling out a Room Change Request Form does not guarantee you will be able to change your room. Room changes will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Once submitted, your request will be reviewed by a staff member and you will be contacted via email once a space becomes available to offer you.

If your room change request is approved and a space is available, you will be contacted via email with details about the moving process. You will have 48 hours to reply to the email and confirm your room change; otherwise the space will be given to the next person on the waitlist. All residents are expected to complete their room change within 48 hours of confirmation.

Please do not change rooms (including swapping with another individual or moving to an empty room within your suite) without prior written approval from a staff member. If you are experiencing difficulties with your roommate, you are encouraged to reach out to your Resident Assistant (RA) for assistance in mediating any conflicts.  

After the room change has been completed, your account will be updated to reflect the prorated difference in room costs for your new housing assignment. Any damages discovered upon checking out of your original assignment will be billed to your student account.
